The price is the whole price.

Vartra builds weather as it plays, adds a quiet tone, and guides your breathing.

Every preset shows its label, its caveat and its sources.

The tone

Two tones become one steady beat.

Evening plays 146.83 Hz in the left ear and 156.83 Hz in the right.

Heard together, their 10 Hz difference comes through as a beat.

Binaural tones need headphones.

The labels

Every preset tells you what research actually found.

Including when it found little.

Each preset carries one of three labels.

In the app, tap a label to open its sheet: the claim, the finding, the caveat and the sources.

researched

Controlled studies of the technique exist. The sheet states the effect size where one is known.

Evening · Breath

preliminary

The findings do not cover this use, or they cut the other way. The sheet says which.

At the desk · For the night · Sitting still · Morning · Ten minutes

traditional

The practice or principle has a real origin, and the sheet names it.

An example

At the desk

preliminary

At the desk plays a steady 14 Hz tone.

Its sheet reports a study of 920 people under a 15 Hz beat.

Their cognitive performance came out 4–6% lower, not higher.

The preset promises nothing, and the caveat says why.

The scene

A storm that builds, peaks and fades.

The Hearth scene has six layers: rain, wind, fire, thunder, birds and insects.

They play separately, never as one fixed track.

A storm cycle, 40 minutes long by default, raises and lowers the rain and the wind.

Wind rises first, and rain peaks later.

Every cycle keeps that order, and its timing shifts a little each time.

Birds and insects drop lower while it rains.

The sounds in this version are synthesised placeholders. Recorded sounds are planned to replace them.

The breath guide

A circle and a soft sound pace each breath.

The circle grows and shrinks, and its brightness stays the same.

The guide runs on the audio clock, so the circle stays in step with the sound.

Turn the sound off, and the circle keeps pacing on its own.

In the app, the Breath preset carries this label.

Its sheet says paced breathing is one of the four techniques the plans place at researched.

The breath guide stays free, in the browser and in the app.

Planned

A screen designed for eyes closed.

Night’s palette is amber only, with no red and no pure white.

In the design, every control is at least 88 px across.

The lower half of the screen is designed as three large touch areas.

Left alone, the screen is designed to fade to one amber dot.

Night is planned and is not in this version.
